# Results

> Record unit assessment decisions and correct them with history intact.

Administrators, enrolment officers and assessors can record and correct results
in the staff app. Read-only staff can view results.

## Choose the right decision

| Result | What it does |
| - | - |
| Competent | Records a successful assessment. |
| RPL granted | Records success through recognition of prior learning. |
| Not yet competent | Leaves the attempt open for further assessment. |
| Not competent | Closes the attempt without success. On the full booking this is labelled **Not competent, attempt closed**. |

Use the separate **Credit transfer** action on the booking for credit transfer.
Do not substitute a competent result for it.

## Record one student's result

1. Open the student's booking from their **Training** section or the class roster.
2. On the unit, choose **Record a result**.
3. Choose the **Result** and **Decided on** date.
4. Choose **Save result**.

The booking also provides **Every unit at once** and **Save for every unit**.
Use that only when the decision and date apply to every unit involved.

## Record a group of results

1. Open **Results**. Use **Waiting for results** to open the course's unit view for that class.
2. Tick the eligible students for the unit.
3. Choose **Result**, **Decided on** and **Assessor**, or **Not recorded** where applicable.
4. Choose **Review N results…**.
5. Check the names, date, warnings and email count, then choose **Record N results**.

Rows save separately. If some fail, successful results stay saved and failed
rows remain selected with their reasons. Review those rows before retrying.
Result emails depend on the relevant workflow being switched on; check the
review notice before confirming.

In the course's student view, open a student and choose one open unit or
**Every open unit (N)**, then **Save result** or **Save N results**.

## Correct a mistake

Open the full booking and choose **Correct the result** on the unit. Enter the
corrected result and date, then choose **Save correction**. The original
decision stays in **History**; results are corrected rather than deleted.

## Trainer portal

A linked trainer needs an assessor or trainer-and-assessor assignment to record
results for a class. A trainer-only assignment gives roll access without result
controls. Working under direction blocks assessment. A result outside the
assessor's matrix can save with a flag for staff review.

Once the booking is finished, check its [certificate eligibility](https://docs.rtospot.com.au/certificates.md).
