Administrators, enrolment officers and assessors can schedule sessions and mark or finalise rolls. Linked trainers can mark and finalise their assigned sessions in the trainer portal. Read-only staff can view rolls.

Open a session

Open Sessions and choose the session, or open the class’s Sessions and attendance area and select a meeting. Session dates and times follow the venue’s time zone. A roll becomes editable on the session date at that venue. Scheduling a class and scheduling its individual meetings are separate steps. If no session exists, ask someone who maintains the class to schedule it first.

Mark and save

  1. Choose Present, Late, Left early, Absent or Excused for each expected student.
  2. Add Arrived, Left or a Note where needed. Arrival and departure must be within the session; absent and excused marks cannot have times.
  3. To fill remaining unmarked students as present, choose Mark the rest present.
  4. Choose Save attendance (N) to save your changes.
Mark the rest present does not save the roll. Check the names and marks before saving. Print sign-in sheet opens a printable sheet when you need a paper record. Present, late and left-early marks start covered units that have not yet commenced. Changing an attendance mark later does not undo that commencement; correct a mistaken start date on the booking as well.

Finalise or correct

Once everyone expected has a saved mark, choose Finalise roll. A finalised roll is locked against ordinary changes. If it needs correcting, an administrator opens Reopen this roll, answers Why does it need changing?, then chooses Reopen roll. Save the corrected marks and finalise again. Earlier marks remain in Change history. A student transferred out after being marked stays on the roll as No longer in this class. Their attendance history has not been lost. Attendance does not record an assessment decision. Continue with results.
